SRF Monastic-Led Six-Hour Commemorative Meditation in Honor of Lahiri Mahasaya

Lahiri Mahasaya, the paramguru of Paramahansa Yogananda, is revered by all SRF/YSS members as a Yogavatar (“incarnation of Yoga”) who was pivotal in introducing Kriya Yoga to the modern world. Born on September 30, 1828, Lahiri Mahasaya left this world on September 26, 1895, during his mahasamadhi — the last meditation, or conscious communion with God, during which a perfected master merges himself in the cosmic Aum and casts off the physical body.

To commemorate the mahasamadhi day and birth anniversary of Lahiri Mahasaya, a special six-hour commemorative meditation will be led by an SRF monastic in English.

The long meditation will include practice of the SRF Energization Exercises, devotional chanting, and periods of silent meditation. There will be an intermission period of 30 minutes after the first three hours.

Please note: The video of the event will be available for later viewing until Sunday, October 3 at 10:00 p.m. (PDT) on the SRF Online Meditation Center YouTube channel.
